Everything You Need to Know about NAAMA's Skincare Range for after Tattoo Removal

Book A Consultation

Laser tattoo removal is a holistic journey that goes way beyond the treatment room – in fact, knowing how to care for your skin between sessions is as important as understanding the laser process. Whether you’re looking to fade and cover your body art or plan on removing the tattoo without a trace, diligent aftercare is key to getting the most out of every pass of the laser.

After laser tattoo removal, over-the-counter barrier and emollient creams are typically recommended to hydrate and protect the treated area. While those products are fit-for-purpose, at NAAMA Studios, we’re constantly innovating. Our team felt that more could be done to support your skin, so we created two pioneering skincare products that do precisely that.

Your laser tattoo removal aftercare routine matters, so it makes sense to use products that expedite the fading process. Read on to find out which properties are important for effective post laser tattoo removal skincare, discover the essential ingredients that keep your skin looking and feeling healthy, and learn how to use our brand new product range for maximum efficacy.

How Can I Speed up Tattoo Removal?

The three most important factors that dictate how fast your ink will fade? The laser, your tattoo, and your general health. At NAAMA Studios, we treat your skin with the world’s most advanced laser system. Older laser models trap lots of heat in the skin, significantly increasing the chance of blistering, scarring and lasting damage. Our ultra low-energy technology is different. It pulses fast, breaking ink pigments down quickly without transferring excess energy to the surrounding areas, which is why there’s no need for any downtime between sessions – just a little skin TLC.

Naturally, the composition of the ink used dictates the speed of your laser tattoo removal journey; specifically colour, quality, density and depth, as well as location on the body. Small, faint tattoos tend to fade faster than large, bold tattoos. Tattoos that are closer to active blood flow (on your chest, for example) tend to fade faster. Certain colours fade more slowly than others. While the characteristics of the tattoo may be beyond your control, the final factor – your health – can be enhanced with a few smart choices and a solid skincare regimen.

After laser tattoo removal, your immune system is responsible for flushing the tattoo pigment out of your body, so it makes sense that a healthy immune system fades ink faster. While getting high-quality sleep, exercising regularly, drinking plenty of water and eating a nutrient-rich diet are well-known health habits, skincare is sometimes overlooked. Your skin is the window to your body – it’s your largest organ, after all – and it plays a vital role in maintaining your health.

What Cream Can I Use after Tattoo Removal?

Developed in collaboration with Swiss Mountain Organics, NAAMA’s dedicated skincare range has been cleverly engineered to enhance the removal process by improving your skin health. They’re formulated to nourish your skin during different phases of laser tattoo removal aftercare, using all-natural vegan ingredients that are readily-absorbed by the skin.

“The ingredients are organic and derived from plants and, thus, provide a high level of bioavailability,” explains practicing physician and founder Urs Polhman at Swiss Mountain Organics. “There are indications that non-organic compounds have more difficulties getting absorbed into the cell or intercellular tissue. High bioavailability means the compound will support regeneration better than most synthetic compounds.

NAAMA Aftercare Cream includes unique ingredients specifically designed to enhance the clearance of tattoo ink post treatment. “You will have an activation of your blood flow coming from Alpha Glucosyl Hesperidin, our key ingredient in here which is used in a never before seen manner, stimulating the degradation of ink particles by activation of blood flow.” explains chemist and formulation scientist Luciano Mastrobuoni at Swiss Mountain Organics.

Aftercare Cream also alleviates the skin’s inflammation response. To reduce redness and ease itchiness, the cream contains a calming synergistic blend of blackcurrant seed oil and balloon vine extract (a medicinal climbing plant native to America), with the addition of naturally-occurring organic acids that offer an antimicrobial effect, reducing the risk of infection.

Rhizobian gum and acacia senegal gum form a thin film to protect the skin from environmental stressors like weather and pollution, while tucuma butter – a nutrient-rich pulp derived from Colombian and Brazilian tucuma palm trees – actively heals the treatment area. “The protective film also ensures a sustained release of the active ingredients into the skin,” says Polhman.

Once the skin is no longer sensitive, our vitamin-rich Regeneration Cream prepares the area ahead of your next appointment. Designed to speed up and support the natural regenerative process, the star ingredient is an encapsulated derivative of retinol, “the biochemical name for vitamin A,” explains Polhman. ‘Encapsulated’ means this potent ingredient is released slowly, boosting its efficiency while being gentle on skin.

The regeneration process is boosted by the additional Japanese hand-picked cedar bud extract, “which has been shown to improve epidermal renewal,” Polhan says, along with vitamin E, which “further supports the immune system, cell function and skin health.” To soften the texture of the skin and strengthen the epidermal barrier, the formulation contains Nilotica, an exceptionally fine grade of shea butter, and milk thistle oil, which is rich in antioxidants.

How to use NAAMA’s Skincare Products

After laser tattoo removal, your consultant will wrap the treatment area in a protective dressing, which should stay on for up to 72 hours. Once the dressing has been removed, NAAMA’s skincare products can be introduced. The Aftercare Cream should be applied twice daily for at least one week post-treatment. Outside of tattoo removal, its protective qualities also make it ideal for use in cold and windy weather conditions.

Once the skin is healed, the Regeneration Cream can be applied each morning and night until your next laser session. Thanks to its regenerative active ingredients, the cream is also an ideal anti-ageing product, and can be applied to the face daily for youthful-looking skin.
