Here are our top five skincare treatments to try this summer season.

The summer season is officially upon us. With the weather warming up, we often opt for a less-is-more approach to get us through the months ahead and give us full access to the sun’s vitamin D. The same is true when it comes to our skin as we tend to bare more in the warmer months. If you’re looking to give your skin a boost, without compromising your time in the sun, read our top 5 sun-safe cosmetic treatments to have this summer:

Forma

Forma is often called the “non-surgical facelift” by the beauty community for its ability to give a lifted, tighter and more awake look in only a few treatments. Forma uses thermal radio frequency to pinpoint wrinkles and lines by targeting the skin’s deep tissue. The treatment promotes collagen, a key player in maintaining a youthful glow, along with firming and tightening up the skin. Many say their face looks like it’s received a facelift after.

Thanks to Forma’s non-invasive technique, you won’t require much downtime. A good SPF of 30 or higher or opting to keep the skin covered under a hat for a few days is recommended to avoid direct sunlight a few days after treatment.

Pigmentation removal

From hyperpigmentation to sunspots and melasma, pigmentation can be a concern for many. For those wishing to clear theirs this summer, laser removal is a safe, non-invasive way to treat and remove the pigment from the skin. Similarly to a tattoo removal, the laser breaks down the pigment small enough so that the immune system can clear it from the skin.

Cryotherapy facial

Cryotherapy facials use liquid nitrogen to brighten and tighten the skin in as little as 15 minutes. The nitrogen creates a cooling effect, giving the treatment its nickname “frotox,” that tightens pores, reduces redness, reduces signs of ageing and helps increase oxygen and blood flow to the skin. Sessions are quick and effective, making them a great option for a quick boost in skin’s elasticity on a tight timeline. Also a great option for those hot summer days, when something cooling on the skin is essential.

The skin may be sensitive immediately after treatment, so if you’re planning to head outside ensure you cover the area with SPF to avoid direct exposure to UV rays.

Thanks to our innovative technology and experienced consultants, you can be confident about removing cosmetic tattoos and microblading – both popular treatments at NAAMA.

Permanent makeup removal

We’ve seen a return to more natural beauty trends this summer with many people choosing to reverse their cosmetic procedures, like Kylie Jenner’s best friend Stassie Karanikolaou. Similarly at NAAMA, we’ve had many clients come in looking to remove their permanent makeup from lip blushing to microblading and eyebrow tattooing. Oftentimes they found the original results too intense, not what they wanted or they simply outgrew the style.

NAAMA’s LightSense™ laser system is safe to use on sensitive areas like the mouth or eyebrows with minimal downtime. If you’re interested in permanent makeup removal, see our results here and book a consultation with one of our experts here.

Facial acupuncture

Acupuncture has long been a coveted treatment in the East for its wide range of benefits from fertility to health, and often is used to also treat the skin. Many claim it’s better than botox with its ability to improve skin texture, overall complexion and firm up the skin by increasing blood flow and collagen production.

Tiny needles are used to penetrate the skin’s surface (think small punctures) and stimulate the muscles, remove congestion and help circulate blood throughout the body. The needles are left for up to an hour so the body can feel the full effects. Often the face and body are treated together to achieve a holistic result. Because the treatment doesn’t use any products, only light pricks, you can resume your day as normal without any downtime.

Sun-safe aftercare tips We’re all about practicing safe sun care so you can have fun in the warm weather, here are a few things we recommend:

  • Check the UV index: to know what level the sun’s ultraviolet radiation is at and protect your skin accordingly. Anything higher than a moderate 5-6 into a high 7-10 should remind you to layer on the SPF.

  • Wear SPF: to ensure your skin is protected. We recommend high SPF with a UVA4* or higher protection.

  • Cover up: if you’re prone to burning, have fairer skin or tend to feel the effects of the sun quite quickly. Opt for hats, sunglasses, and longer (but breathable and light!) layers worn throughout the day.

  • Stay hydrated: to ensure you keep your body healthy and feeling good while out in the sun’s rays.
