Uyi Scalp Micropigmentation Removal
Uyi Scalp Micropigmentation Removal

After a scalp micropigmentation procedure went badly wrong for Uyi, it was a quick Google search and direct call to NAAMA studios to remedy everything. But there’s more to this story than just cosmetic tattoo removal, Uyi also wanted to remove the name of an ex-girlfriend.

What is scalp micropigmentation?

SMP, or scalp micropigmentation, is a cosmetic procedure that creates a hairline effect using tattoo ink. In the right hands, the right needle can create an impressive effect. Unfortunately for Uyi, neither of these were present at his initial SMP procedure.

“I think it was the first one he's ever done. He knew what he was doing, but he used the wrong needle. And I think I was being used as an experiment. So he actually went wrong.”

“To be honest, I was really depressed. Because I couldn't go to the gym, anywhere. I had to wear a cap.”

“I was looking for the best laser removal company in London. Your company came up and I contacted one of the ladies.”

Laser tattoo removal, whether applied to SMP, permanent makeup, or tattoos, is a process that takes place over a period of weeks and months. The initial procedure with the LightSense® laser system sets off a natural reaction within the dermis layer of the skin. It is then the body’s lymphatic system that gets to work clearing the unwanted ink.

“Like the way the day fades away. That's the way you're going to see your skin healing up.”

As time passes the process of healing and removal becomes startlingly clear.

“It works. Just be patient. And don't try and get funny around it. Maybe the first day you do it you're not seeing it, then you're like ‘oh, it's not working.’”

“It’s really working fast for me. I might end up removing it completely, or I might leave it halfway. I’m just going to go with the flow.”

The second part of Uyi’s removal story has to do with a tattoo of an ex-girlfriend’s name and ambitions to join the British Army. He felt his tattoo was holding him back from career opportunities, and that to set a good example to his son, nephew, and niece, he should clear the unwanted ink.

“If you want to be an example to your kids, you need to lead by example.”

“I've been getting a lot of questions from my niece, my nephew, like, ‘Uncle what’s this,’ and I have to lie a lot. So I'm tired of lying.”

“They are really happy that this is leaving, some parts are beginning to fade gradually.”

Removing a tattoo that signposts a former path taken can clear the way for something new. As Uyi sets off on his journey, made possible by the LightSense® laser system, he looks forward to new opportunities in his career and personal life.

That is, if he can drag himself away from the comfort of NAAMA’s studio: “The environment is really posh. You don't feel like leaving.”

The LightSense® laser system works on extremely low energy in order to make the process of laser tattoo removal as skin-safe as possible. The spot size of the laser is also incredibly accurate, which is why we only use this laser for treatments in the studio, and why LightSense® is safe to operate on especially delicate parts of the body, like the face and head.

One additional bonus of working on low energy - that clients are able to return for treatments every 2-3 weeks - means we can clear unwanted names from your skin fast.
