If you’ve always carried a golden glow, then you’ll no doubt be asking, “will my skin tan after tattoo removal?"
The question of whether your skin will tan after removal, however, does depend on a number of key factors, including your aftercare regime in the days immediately following tattoo removal, and in the longer term. Our qualified NAAMA consultants can give you a personalised treatment plan during your laser tattoo removal to ensure your skin receives the best quality care, including advice such as avoiding intense sun exposure and maintaining a healthy diet.

Will my skin tan after laser tattoo removal?
Yes, your skin will tan again. There are a few steps you’ll need to take before and after your tattoo removal to help you on your way.
1. Choose a gentle treatment method
Our unique laser technology gives your skin the best chance possible to recover from tattoo removal treatment. Whilst other laser systems use high levels of energy which can blister and burn your skin, our LightSense™ technology emits ultra-low levels of energy to gently break down the ink particles in your tattoo. This pioneering technology means you get precise, gentle and safe treatment that reduces the risk of scarring and blistering, giving your skin the best chance of safely tanning again after tattoo removal.
Our low-energy laser significantly reduces any chance of blistering, scarring or lasting damage, which means less downtime between treatments and fast tattoo removal results.
2. Take the time for proper aftercare
Your skin needs time to heal before you should consider tanning after tattoo removal. While your skin may look great after treatment, it’s worth taking the time to let it fully recover from the laser treatment. It’s important to keep the area well-moisturised with our specialist creams, keep it away from direct sunlight and maintain a gentle skincare regime to keep the area cool, calm and hydrated.
3. Eat well
A strong immune system gives your body the best chance of breaking down the unwanted ink particles and cleansing them from your body, getting you and your skin ready to tan.

How long do I have to wait after tattoo removal before I can tan?
In the week following your treatment, we recommend keeping the area covered and not exposing it to direct sunlight till the area is healed. Practicing sun-safe skincare is cool, so keep at it and regularly apply sunscreen with high SPF and UVA 4*+ rating throughout your removal journey, between your treatments and for a month after. Consistency is key! Looking a little crispy? Unfortunately, we won’t be able to treat your tattoo if the area is burned, blistered or deeply tanned at any time during your journey. We’ll wait until the area is fully healed.
